After winning last year's Colnial Athletic Association team championship, former head coach for Georgia State and CAA Coach of the Year, Eric Campbell announced his resignation this past November.
In light of his resignation, cross country director Chris England took over as the interim head coach for the track & field team.
Also, new to the Panther coaching staff is Amy Henry, who will be an assistant coach and will oversee the hurdles and sprints.
Coach Henry joins the Panther family as a former coach at the University of Texas-El Paso.
Henry graduated from Hampton University where she was a Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference
all-conference sprinter and hurdler.
Fresh off their first ever conference championship in program history, the Georgia State women's track & field team will began its 2011-2012 season on Dec. 3 at Clemson University for the Orange and Purple Winter Classic.
Out of both the men's and women's squads nine of the Panthers placed within the top 20 in their respective events.
"There was a lot of transition at this meet," England said to Georgia State Communications. "The student athletes are getting used to the changes in the coaching staff and putting all of their training to use in competition."
The squads will continue their winter season beginning on Jan. 12 and 13 at the UAB Blazer Invite in Birmingham, Ala.
The Panthers will stay in Birmingham for their next two meets with the Samford/UAB/BSC Invite and the Vulcan Invite.
Georgia State will not compete in Atlanta until Mar. 16 and 17 for the Georgia Intercollegiate. Then the team will compete in the Spec Towns Invite in Athens, Ga., and will then finish their homestay in Atlanta at the Yellow Jacket Invite at neighboring Georgia Tech.
The Panthers will look to hold onto their reigning title of confer- ence champs at the CAA Championship on May 4 and 5 in Fairfax, Va.
