The Office of Employee Development and Wellness, a subsidiary of the Georgia State Human Resources Department, is providing Faculty, staff and students with a series of programs directed towards developing better health.
The Office sponsors Wellness Wednesdays the first two Wednesdays of each month. The purpose of wellness Wednesdays is to provide faculty, staff and students with information and tools for achieving optimal personal wellness. Charlie Safford, the FASA (Faculty and Staff Assistance) consultant of the Office of Employee Development and Wellness explains that all resources and counseling within this program are purely confidential, "Housekeeping doesn't even have a key, that's why our rugs may need a little cleaning," said Safford.
Tanya Weigel, Wellness Specialist for the Office, emphasizes that these programs and services offered by their office is not strictly for employees but for "anybody that is apart of the GSU community," said Weigel.
The overall goal of wellness Wednesdays is to provide a resourceful support system for members of the GSU community to guide members to develop and maintain wellness initiatives for the new year.
The Office provides each of the Wellness Wednesdays as a webinar on their website for individuals who are unable to leave class or their desk.
