Monday marked the beginning of the spring 2012 semester for most Georgia State professors and students. Students welcomed the new semester of Monday/Wednesday classes by trudging tiredly through the campus, the majority with a coffee in hand. The overall atmosphere of the campus was quiet for the 7:30 am, 8:00am and 9:30 am classes, with the majority of students arriving later in the day for mid-morning/afternoon/evening classes.

Typically the first week of classes plagues professors with technological difficulties concerning the projectors and classroom computers and students trying to creatively mastermind how to buy a textbook that is $120 for around $10.  Katherine Fernandez, an AH 1700 student describes the nostalgia of the first day of school, "There is always an excitement to the first day of school, meeting new professors and buying school supplies etc."

Other students don't have the same enthusiasm as Fernandez. Orrin Alexander, a junior, stated, "So far its fine, I guess. It's my first class."

Another semester is here whether you are excited about the first day of class or not. The positive note being that students are one step closer to graduating while professors are one step closer to retiring.
