Science Park not over budget
The Science Park project is not $20 million over budget according to senior university leaders in response to comments made during an SGA meeting in Jan. The University's Director of Budget and Planning, Chip Hill said, "To their knowledge, there haven't been any changes to the Science Park cost structure of this magnitude.


President Patton to recieve community service award

Retiring Georgia Statue University president Dr. Carl Patton will be awarded the Dan Sweat Award at the 66th Central Atlanta Progress/ Atlanta Downtown Improvement District annual meeting. This sold out event, originally scheduled at the Georgia World Congress Center, has been relocated to the Atlanta Hilton hotel due to last Friday's tornado damage.


SGA discusses bill concerning State's core curriculum

The Student Government Association came together Thursday night to discuss a variety of agenda items, ranging from school curriculum to pedestrian safety. Senator Feigenbaum opened with bill 08-03, a bill mainly concerning our student body. It deals with the Board of Regents changing the Georgia State curriculum.

The sky was cloudy but the air wasn't so cold when over two thousand cyclists following two routes merged at Hurt Park. Escorted by police down a temporarily closed Courtland Street, they passed through the GSU campus on their way to the state capitol building.


Environmental club works to establish green fees, expand recycling program

Establishing green fees and expanding the recycling program are at the top of the agenda for the Sustainable Energy Tribe. The Tribe is also planning a major energy fair that is happening April 15. The club has made some headway with green fees. This bill has passed every student government association in each public university; now it is under the review with the Board of Regents.


Textbook rental now available at Park Place

It is a well-known fact that the price of college is increasing every year. A student can expect to spend at least $200 for four or five books he or she may never even open. According to the National Association of College Stores, 65 percent of students do not buy all of their textbooks.


Atlantans participate in charity walk to fight eating disorders

Eating disorders have always been an underlying problem among young women and men. Eating Disorder Information Network is a non-profit organization that is trying to prevent that. In honor of Merrick Ryan, who died because of complications with anorexia at age 19, EDIN has a special event called Merrick's Walk.
